What Can You Do To
Help Prevent Wrinkles?
What can you do to help
prevent wrinkles? Which creams help prevent face
wrinkles? Which ones don't? You'll find the answers
that you need here, in this article.
The Role of the
Sun
We blame the sun for wrinkling
because the skin cells produce more free radicals when exposed
to UV rays from the sun. The UV rays also quickly deplete
natural levels of coenzyme Q10, an antioxidant responsible for
controlling free radical production.
To help prevent wrinkles, you can wear a large
hat that shades your face and sunglasses to protect the
delicate skin around the eyes. You can wear a broad
spectrum zinc oxide sun block on days when you expect to
spend extended amounts of time in the sun.
But, you have to remember that
the sun is also our friend. If we avoided the sun
entirely or wore sun block every day, we would quickly become
vitamin D deficient. Among other things, vitamin D is
partly responsible for bone and joint strength.
Lots of "experts" recommend
that your daily face creams should contain sun screening
compounds to prevent face wrinkles. The problem is that
some of the organic and synthetic sun screening compounds have
been shown to increase free radical production, the root cause
of wrinkling, sagging and skin cancer.
Please, avoid any lotion or
cream that contains oxybenzone and benzophenone. They
will not help prevent wrinkles and they may increase your risk
of skin cancer.
The Role of
Nutrition
Researchers have seen that
some groups of people retain their youthful beauty longer than
others. Of course, things are changing, as more and more
countries adopt "American" eating patterns. But, it is
still possible to evaluate the historical diets of people
around them world, simply by looking at which foods were
commonly available.
Fish and kelp are two of the
foods that seem to prevent face wrinkles. Cold water
fish, in particular, probably because of its rich omega-3
content. Omega 3s are essential fatty acids that are
responsible for the skin's moisture content.
Kelp is rich in a number of
different vitamins and minerals. Wakame, a specific kind
of kelp, has been shown to prevent face wrinkles, in a
different way.
Facial creams that contain
wakame extract prevent the breakdown and loss of hyaluronic
acid in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is one of the proteins
responsible for the skin's firmness and elasticity.
Using creams that contain the
extract can help prevent wrinkles and even fade the ones that
you already have. It has been clinically proven to do
so.
Some foods, mostly vegetables,
have natural anti-inflammatory activity. They may prevent
face wrinkles, as well, since recurring inflammation plays a
role in their formation.
Natural anti-inflammatories
can also be applied directly. An extract from sheep's
wool (Functional Keratin) has been shown to stop the
inflammatory process in its tracks.
To sum it up, play it safe in
the sun, eat right and use creams containing Functional Keratin
and Wakame kelp. Those steps will help prevent wrinkles
and protect your overall health.
